Celebrating 19 Years of Excellence: CDRD’s Anniversary Commemorations

The Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) celebrated its 19th anniversary on 30th July with a series of meaningful events that highlighted the commitment to community service and spiritual traditions.
On the 29th July 2025, CDRD members gathered at the Provincial Ayurvedic Hospital - Meegoda for a "Shramadana" campaign. With the participation of our dedicated members from Tri Services and enthusiastic intern students, undertook the task of cleaning the hospital premises. This initiative was not only a testament to the dedication to community service but also an opportunity to foster teamwork and solidarity among CDRD members. The efforts put in by everyone involved ensured the hospital premises were thoroughly cleaned, benefiting the staff, patients and visitors to the hospital.
Following the "Shramadana" campaign, an arms giving ceremony was held at the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) on 31th July, 2025.
These events were held under the supervision of present Director-General, Commodore Janaka Gunaseela, whose leadership has been instrumental in fostering a spirit of community and service within the organization.
As CDRD celebrate 19 years of excellence, we remain committed to CDRD mission of advancing defence research and development. These anniversary events are a reminder of the values cherish and CDRD ongoing commitment to serving the community and respecting our cultural traditions, as look forward to many more years of innovation, service, and growth.
