CDRD AND SLIIT SIGN MOU TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH IN DEFENCE TECHNOLOGY

check-all The Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) to strengthen collaboration in research, development, and innovation in defence-related technologies. The signing ceremony, held on 30th May 2025, was graced by Commodore (L) JU Gunaseela USP psc ndc, Director General of CDRD, and Professor Ayantha Gomes, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, SLIIT.


check-all This partnership aims to promote mutual cooperation in emerging technologies with national priorities in defence and technological advancement. Both institutions will work jointly on research and development projects, knowledge exchange programmes, training initiatives, technical consultancy opportunities, and technology development initiatives.


check-all Through this MoU, students and researchers from SLIIT will have the opportunity to work closely with CDRD on real-world defence projects, providing valuable industry exposure and contributing to the national interest. By bridging academia and the defence sector, the collaboration seeks to encourage innovation and technological self-reliance in Sri Lanka, fostering growth in the nation’s defence research capabilities. CDRD continues to expand its network of academic and industry partners to ensure the development of cutting-edge solutions for the nation’s security needs. This MoU marks a significant step forward in supporting national security objectives and advancing technological innovation in Sri Lanka's defence sector.
