CDRD Hands Over B-Vehicle Simulator Version II and 6 Degree of Freedom Motion Platform to Sri Lanka Navy

In a significant milestone, the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) successfully handed over two groundbreaking projects to the Sri Lanka Navy: The B-Vehicle Simulator Version II and the 6 Degree of Freedom Motion Platform. These cutting-edge training systems are designed to enhance the training capabilities of Navy personnel while significantly reducing costs.
The official handing-over ceremony took place today at the CDRD premises, graced by the presence of distinguished leaders from both organizations. Representing CDRD, Director General, Major General BI Assalaaratchi USP psc ptsc, and representing the Sri Lanka Navy, Director General of Engineering Rear Admiral CD Rajapakse USP, ndc, psc, attended the event. Both dignitaries signed the official project handing-over certificates, marking the formal transfer of these state-of-the-art systems.
The B-Vehicle Simulator Version II, an upgraded version of its predecessor, offers enhanced features to simulate real-life driving scenarios for training Transport Assistants of the Navy. Paired with the 6 Degree of Freedom Motion Platform, which replicates six axes of motion, these projects provide an immersive and practical training experience. These tools are expected to significantly improve the operational readiness of Navy personnel while reducing overall training costs.
Funded entirely by Ministry of Defence at a total cost of LKR 7.7 million, the development of these systems underscores the organization’s commitment to advancing Sri Lanka’s defense capabilities. Speaking at the event, Major General Assalaaratchi highlighted the importance of innovation in defense technologies, expressing confidence that these systems will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Navy training programs.
Rear Admiral Rajapaksha commended CDRD for its expertise and dedication, acknowledging the invaluable contribution these projects will make to the professional development of the Navy. He expressed optimism for future collaborations between the two organizations to address the evolving needs of the country’s defense forces.
