Showcasing Innovation: The Centre for Defence Research and Development at Techno 2024

check-all The Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) participated in the prestigious Techno 2024 Exhibition, held at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, BMICH from October 11th to 13th. This event was organized by the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka, served as the country’s leading platform for showcasing advancements in engineering and technology, drawing attention to cutting-edge innovations across various Engineering fields. CDRD's Exhibits: Bridging Technology and Defence As a pivotal organization under the Ministry of Defence, CDRD proudly presented three of its latest developments aimed to enhance both defence capabilities and national interest: Small Arm Firing Simulator - This advanced simulator provided realistic and immersive training experiences for military personnel. This simulator provides various combat scenarios, and it allowed trainees to improve their marksmanship and decision-making skills in a safe and controlled environment.


check-all Digital Mobile Radio (CREEPER) - Communication proved crucial in defence operations, and CDRD’s Digital Mobile Radio, known as CREEPER, exemplified reliability and resilience. Designed to support secure and uninterrupted communication, CREEPER ensured that the armed forces stayed connected even in challenging environments. This technology reflected CDRD’s focus on providing robust solutions to meet the operational demands of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces. Development of a Wild Animal Tranquilizer Dart Launcher - Expanding beyond defence, CDRD also developed a tranquilizer dart launcher aimed at assisting wildlife management efforts. This tool was designed to safely tranquilize wild animals, enabling conservationists and wildlife officials to handle and relocate animals with minimal stress. This initiative highlighted CDRD’s versatility and its commitment to supporting projects that promoted environmental conservation.
