A Collaborative Step Towards Agricultural Innovation with CDRD

The Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) was honoured to host Major General Chandana Arangalla psc, Director of the Green Agriculture Operations Centre, Sri Lanka, and his esteemed team. The team was warmly welcomed by the Director General, CDRD, Major General BI Assalaratchi USP psc ptsc.
During this significant visit, the discussions focused on the pivotal role of modernization of agriculture in the nation's economy and the challenges faced by the paddy cultivation sector. Major General Arangalla emphasized the importance of innovative approaches to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was to develop a machine capable of planting rice plants using a parachute method. This novel approach aims to streamline the planting process, ensuring efficient use of resources and potentially increasing the yield of paddy harvests.
The CDRD is committed to leveraging its expertise in research and development to support the agricultural sector. The proposed machine will utilize advanced technologies to facilitate the parachute planting method, which involves dropping rice plants from a height, ensuring uniform distribution and planting efficiency.
