Celebrating 18 Years of Excellence: CDRD’s Anniversary Commemorations

The Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) proudly celebrated its 18th anniversary on 30th July with a series of meaningful events that highlighted our commitment to community service and spiritual traditions.
On the 25th July 2024, CDRD members gathered at the Meegoda Ayurveda Hospital for a "Shramadana" campaign. With the participation of our dedicated members from Tri Services and enthusiastic intern students, undertook the task of cleaning the hospital premises. This initiative was not only a testament to our dedication to community service but also an opportunity to foster teamwork and solidarity among our members. The efforts put in by everyone involved ensured the hospital premises were thoroughly cleaned, benefiting both the staff, patients and visitors to the hospital.
Following the Shramadana campaign, held an arms giving ceremony for five Buddhist monks at the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) on 30th July, 2024. This solemn event was graced by the former Director-General of CDRD, Major General KRP Rowel (Retd) RWP VSV USP, whose continued support and participation added a special significance to the occasion.
The event was held under the supervision of present Director-General, Major General BI Assalaratchi USP, whose leadership has been instrumental in fostering a spirit of community and service within our organization. The Anniversary program was ended with a beautiful musical evening held in the evening on 30th July 2024.
As we celebrate 18 years of excellence, we remain committed to our mission of advancing defence research and development. These anniversary events are a reminder of the values we cherish and our ongoing commitment to serving the community and respecting our cultural traditions, as look forward to many more years of innovation, service, and growth.
