WELCOME TO CDRD

The Centre for Defence Research and Development was incepted on 30th July 2006. The initiation for establishing of this National Institution was laid by a cabinet memorandum approved on 29th March 2006. The CDRD was inagurated with a vision to establish world-class science and technology base providing the military a decisive edge, by equipping them with internationally competitive systems and solutions.

Our Mission

a. To plan, research, design, develop and lead towards the production of state-of-the-art solutions; sensors, weapon systems, platforms and allied equipment for the country’s defence.

b. To provide technological solutions for Defence needs, to optimize combat effectiveness and to promote the wellbeing of troops.

c. To develop infrastructure and committed quality man power and build a strong technological base.

NRTC DELEGATION FROM PAKISTAN EXPLORES DEFENCE SOLUTIONS WITH CDRD

A Delegation from the National Radio and Telecommunication Center (NRTC) Pakistan visited CDRD on March 14, 2023, The Director-General of CDRD provided a comprehensive briefing on the role and ongoing functions of CDRD.


EMBRACED THE NEW YEAR-2024 AT ITS ADVENT

The Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) stepped into the new year-2024 with a charming ceremony which included the hoisting of National Flag by the Director General of CDRD and the CDRD Flag by the Deputy Director General, a two-minute silence observance in commemoration of gallant fallen war heroes, reading and swearing of the Public Service Affirmation, Director General’s address and traditional tea party giving the prominence to the military tradition and Sri Lankan culture.

NIA EMPOWERS RESEARCHERS AT CDRD

In a stride towards fostering innovation and enhancing knowledge sharing, the National Innovation Agency Sri Lanka recently conducted an enlightening session for researchers at the Centre for Defence Research and Development.
