Defence Secretary Visits CDRD

Making his second visit to the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) of the Ministry of National Security, Disaster Management and Homeland Affairs, Defence Secretary and National Security and Disaster Management State Ministry Secretary Gen. G.D.H Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWP RWP RSP USP ndc psc Mphil inspected some of the completed and ongoing projects at the CDRD, on 22 February 2021.

Secretary Defence was welcomed by the Director-General – CDRD Major General K R P Rowel (Retd) RWP VSV USP ndu USACGSC Msc, BSc Eng, C Eng, MIE (SL) and accompanied to the conference hall for a short briefing on the progress of the currently undertaken projects. After the presentation, he was also invited to inspect some of the completed and ongoing projects which had been exhibited and briefed by the Project Officers on the current states and progress. The demonstrated products included a BTR Driving Simulator, a Mortar Simulator, a Light Vehicle Simulator, a Drone Jammer, a Locally Fabricated Secure VHF Radio Set, an Elephant Repelling Device, a Smart Target System for Jungle Lane Firing, locally made Blue Guns, Software Programs and many other products which had been researched designed and fabricated at CDRD.

Addressing the CDRD staff and civil research Officers, Secretary Defence emphasized the need for the continuous monitoring of the utilization of the handed over products by the end-users and appreciated the continuous and pain striking efforts by the CDRD team lead by the Director-General. The signing of the visitor’s book and exchanging of plaques to mark the occasion also took place.
