The new two storied officer accommodation complex of the Center for Research and Development (CRD) was declared open by the Secretary to the Ministry Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi on Friday (20th January).
Upon arrival at the venue in Pitipana, Homagama the Secretary was received by the Director General of the CRD Brigadier (rtd) STS de Silva. Later the Secretary officially declared open the new facility.
The new complex will provide accommodation facility for the tri forces officers working at the CRD. The project costing around Rs. 50 million was completed with construction being carried out tri forces labour and expertise.
The new website www.crd.lk of the CRD was also launched by the Secretary during the event held last evening. A memento was presented to Secretary Hettiarachchi by the Director General to mark the occasion.
Additional Secretary (Defence) Mr. Sarath Kumara, Chief of National Intelligence Mr. Sisira Mendis, senior tri forces officers and CRD officials were also present at the occasion.
Established in 2006 the CRD was created in order to carry out research and development for the tri forces.
